Yes! Yes! Yes!

Bush to push space initiative:

Every now and then, just when I've about given up hope on the guy and his liberties with the constitution (as opposed to the much more desirable guarding of constitutional liberties), he does something like this.

If he were here, I would pinch his cheek and pat him on the head. Provided that wouldn't get me locked up in Cuba.

What really gets me is all the secret meetings with Cheney. You know they have to be serious if there are actual secret meetings with Cheney!

Ditching the shuttle, buying some rockets from Russia until we get going, then tossing the ISS...this sounds like they've been putting some thought into it.

*still speechless, especially after seeing the phrase "they've been putting some thought into it"*

where's he going to come up with the money, though?
do you think he'll use some of that $99 million sitting in his account, instead of wasting it on his reelection campaign?

I'm seeing it as an investment -- we had so much spinoff technology from the Apollo program, that the government took in much more than it ever spent.

That's looooong term, though. Short term, I'd rather the money go a space program than, say, war with North Korea or Iran. Reminds me of Jefferson. J was big on the people (not government) owning land in the US, then he goes ahead and does the Louisianna Purchase. Politicians...*shrug*
