The country of Zimbabwe is creating hundreds of thousands (more) homeless because there is a thug in office, yet we have to read about, as Fark puts it: Tom Cruise proposes to beard No. 3 under giant French phallus. I'd like to say that at least it's good that the US doesn't have these problems, but then 66.6667% of my friends list will jump up and down and point to the mid-east, and then I'm gonna be annoyed because it's not the same by half a planet. Not that it justifies the Cruise/Holmes coverage. We need another celebrity trial to distract the media.

Every lottery is a math tax. People who don't understand applied statistics and probability pay $1 a week. Sometimes more. Ironically, the lottery money is said to go to education, which one would think would eventually be self-defeating. However, that's just a myth -- for every dollar that comes in from the lottery, most states take away a dollar that they were putting into schools, and put it into an even more bloated government program instead.
