Jun. 16th, 2005 08:48 amChristey and I saw Batman Begins last night. Fantastic movie. Yeah, it's got a cool car and neat gadgets and all the bat stuff, but it's a good movie in a dramatic way as well. Revenge vs justice, fear vs anger, vigilante vs making a difference... the mood and thoughtfulness are bang-on. I mean, don't get me wrong, this isn't Mississippi Burning. It's a movie about a comic book hero. But...instead of being good at what it is, it's better than what it is.
Plus, you can't go wrong with the cast. Bale is pretty good, and Holmes is what she is. The supporting cast: Morgan Freeman, Rutger Hauer, Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy (the guy from 28 Days Later), Ken Watanabe, Liam Neeson, and, of course, Gary Oldman.
I was thinking last night that it was my favorite blockbuster movie of the year so far, but then I remembered Sin City. So, 2nd favorite. I guess dark is the new black.
