Re: This post, I got a new starter motor a couple days ago, and just installed it now. The boat starts up fine! It sounds great! So, I don't think there's any more water damage to the engine at this point. Jury is still out on the alternator, it got a little wet too, but I'm going to take Christey out for a lunchtime shakedown cruise in the bay tomorrow and make sure the battery stays charged.
Gotta hardwire the bilge pump next so it won't get cut off any more. Then, I'm in mid-overhaul of the deck, taking out the rotting plywood and replacing it with quality marine plywood and fiberglass. By this winter (or, for what passes for winter in Florida) this boat will be one smooth fishing machine ;)
I'd like to go fishing tomorrow to really test it out, but 20mph winds and 4-6 foot waves make it a bit too exciting to fish, even for me.
