It's a little toasty this morning.

We had booming thunderstorms last night, and my AC apparently got frightened and stopped working. I checked it out this morning (it's on the roof) and it doesn't look like it got hit or anything, but it's not working. The AC people suggested turning off the circuit breaker for 10 minutes, then starting it up again...we will see.

*hot*

Edit Didn't work. Repair people on the way. Please send ice-water.

Still no AC repair people. It's still toasty. All these computers I have on aren't helping.

I took a peek in the boat this morning after the rain last night. I have a good deal of water in the bilge and the automatic bilge pumps aren't pumping it out. They aren't manually pumping either. So I have to run out tonight and get a new bilge pump and install it. As far as boat repairs go, that's not too bad for a start -- a $30 part and some wiring. I'm still half waiting(/being paranoid) for something major to happen and it hasn't. Knock on wood.

Grrrr. AC guy came. The AC is completely shot and my landlord needs to buy a new one. There were parts just sitting in the bottom of the machine.

Might explain why my electric bill was so high -- the thing never did seem to work right anyway.

So, a new AC will have to be put in...sometime in the next few days. The next few days being 90 degrees with 75% humidity. Good thing I have a spare bedroom that actually has a window unit AC. That one room in the house is the only cool spot and I plan to camp out there tonight.

Another hour and a half or so of work, then I run out tonight and get a bilge pump. Hopefully, I can get that installed before the nightly rains.

I ran out after work, spent $30 on a new bilge pump and wired up the automatic line to the battery. I'm guessing I shot out something like 8" of water in the bilge in something like 20 minutes. No sooner did it shut off than the sun disappeared behind a black cloud and 50 MPH winds whipped up from the south. We got something like 2" of rain in a half hour (according to a bucket I left out on my patio) with a bit of hail, and it's been drizzling for the last couple hours since then. I went out just now to check the boat, and there was just a little bit of water in the bilge -- and it kicked on as I watched and drained it out. I still have to hook up the manual line so I can force it on when I want, but I'm not nearly as worried about that as I was about automatically draining the bilge with all the rain we've been having.

Aaaahhhh, good job on my first boat repair task!
