Jan. 9th, 2004 11:04 amI had this dream last night, incredibly vivid. Dark thunderstorms, low low clouds, black rain, and tornados everywhere. I was driving, and my car was actually pulled into the edge of one of the small ones. It was dark, with patches of bright light, and I felt the breath get sucked out of my lungs. I made it through, and was telling everyone about it afterward. The whole dream was a little scary, but mostly exhilarating.
So, tornados are supposed to represent stress and turmoil. And perhaps I have some of that in my life right now. But, then again, last night in the book I was reading, the heros were sailing deep into the roaring 40s during a bad storm, trying to sail past the Cape of Good Hope. I think some of the storm leaked over into the dream. Plus, I find thunderstorms fascinating. As much as I've lived in Florida, I'm very familiar with the low, roiling clouds, the microbursts. I've seen three tornados in my life, all in Florida (okay, one was a waterspout...)
Another oddity -- most men dream in black and white with color highlights (like the Nuprin commercial). This entire dream, as far as I can remember, was in color. Even the gray skies were a blue-gray and reddish gray.
