Interesting morning. Got woken up about 8AM by a very large explosion. At first, I thought something had fallen over -- like my neighbor's house. All of my neighbors and I walked out in our backyards, in various stages of sleepware and hastily donned clothing, looking for rubble or smoke or heavy artillery or something but everything looked okay. The consensus was a power transformer blew somewhere in the neighborhood, but we still had power, so it probably was a few neighborhoods away. Ten minutes later, Georgia Power trucks came trundling down our street, so the transformer theory seems to be confirmed by circumstantial evidence.

A while back, on a Saturday, Rocio went to a party with two of the kids and a mutual friend of ours, while I spent the day at the racebook. I came home to an empty house, and waited until they all came home at about one in the morning. We wee sitting around the livingroom not more than 10 minutes after they arrived, when BAM!

A transformer blew about one hundred feet away. Man, those suckers can be LOUD! Rocio screamed even. It took three hours for the lights to come back on...

I'm not too surprised one blew. It's been very hot and dry for the last few weeks, then suddenly a lot of rain last night. I'm sure something leaked.

Either that, or the woodpeckers. It's woodpecker mating season and they've been pounding on anything that will make a noise, especially metal objects. Hope one didn't hit the wrong button.

Fried woodpecker. It's what's for dinner. ;)
