Interesting morning. Got woken up about 8AM by a very large explosion. At first, I thought something had fallen over -- like my neighbor's house. All of my neighbors and I walked out in our backyards, in various stages of sleepware and hastily donned clothing, looking for rubble or smoke or heavy artillery or something but everything looked okay. The consensus was a power transformer blew somewhere in the neighborhood, but we still had power, so it probably was a few neighborhoods away. Ten minutes later, Georgia Power trucks came trundling down our street, so the transformer theory seems to be confirmed by circumstantial evidence.

And where were you, Ms. GardenGnome, at approximately 8AM Eastern Daylight Time?

Do you have proof of that?

Can I see pictures ;-)

Aha! The photo is obviously doctored. 8AM Eastern time is 7AM Central time. Unless the window behind you has an Eastern exposure, there shouldn't be that much light behind it that early in the morning. Therefore, you were either in Atlanta at the time of the explosion, or you are craftily trying to cover something up.

Either way, you are now my primary suspect. Or...should I say...you're #1 on my Most Wanted list ;-P (cute concentrating stare, BTW)

Not a doctored photo, but one taken at 8 am my time.

and heheee, yeah, that was me doing "concentration" ;)

Ah, so she's a witness now? I thought she was in Kansas and the explosion was in the Atlanta suburbs.

Nikki, perhaps you need another lawyer :)

A while back, on a Saturday, Rocio went to a party with two of the kids and a mutual friend of ours, while I spent the day at the racebook. I came home to an empty house, and waited until they all came home at about one in the morning. We wee sitting around the livingroom not more than 10 minutes after they arrived, when BAM!

A transformer blew about one hundred feet away. Man, those suckers can be LOUD! Rocio screamed even. It took three hours for the lights to come back on...

I'm not too surprised one blew. It's been very hot and dry for the last few weeks, then suddenly a lot of rain last night. I'm sure something leaked.

Either that, or the woodpeckers. It's woodpecker mating season and they've been pounding on anything that will make a noise, especially metal objects. Hope one didn't hit the wrong button.

disasters bringing neighbors together..

i recall my NYC apartment building slightly catching on fire and all of us running down the stairs actually in more danger from the firemen pushing us out of the way...getting
down to the bottom each of us in states of undress...paired up...apparent all the sudden who was..in the terms of an old song I think...WHO was zooming who. Or is that whom?

Lotsa mismatched clothes and visible underfrillies.

YUM.

Looked like everyone threw on at least something. I spotted a couple neighbors in nightshirts and such, but nothing that would interest the LJ NakedParts community.

My neighbor did grab me and ask if I could take a look at his air conditioner. Cuz I'm a computer engineer, everyone expects me to understand mechanics, too. I didn't let him know that the last time I looked at my air conditioner closely, I may have accidentally popped a tube, causing an entire system full of freon to dump into my garage in a rather spectacular fashion.

[I don't want admit to what may or may not have happened in my garage as a)there's a very large monetary fine for dumping that much freon into the atmosphere and b)I'm not quite over the guilt yet.]
