Cut up, Maria
Show me some of them Spanish dances
Pass me a bottle, Mr. Jones
Believe in me
Help me believe in anything
Cause I want to be someone who believes
-- Counting Crows
Funny thing about the Counting Crows, almost every song has at least a cameo by "Maria". The singer Adam says there's a piece of Maria in every song he sings, and she's someone he knows (though not known by the general public).
I had a ... um ... complex relationship with someone named Maria years ago, and I think of her when I listen to the Counting Crows. Though it's a common name, sometimes I wonder if it's the same Maria. The Maria I knew could have that effect on someone.

Actually, I heard that the "maria" he sings about is not actually named Maria, he mentions another woman's name in some of his songs (i can't for the life of me remember it - bad M.- i love Counting Crows), and he's (adam duritz) said that they're actually the same woman.

No offense, but between his voice and his "Mr. Jones" video, I just can't stand the bloke. What does the rest of the world see in him?
