Grammar Peeve

You'd think that an airline named American Airlines would learn how to spell "canceled" the American way.

Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary says that either spelling is okay.

Interesting! I worked for a fax company a long time ago, and when people would cancel their faxes, we would send out "cancelled". We had a few people call us on it, and we looked it up in a few references, and had to change our software. I've always been peevish about it since because I was the one who had to change the software (yet, I didn't write it in the first place, so could be smug about it ;)

I like two ll's!

I like the ll too. My spell checker complains about it but I DON'T CARE!

Looks fine to me!

Where was the picture taken? Maybe the spelling varies with airport location.

You can spell it that way in Canada ;) Comes with the neighbourhood.

That's the CORRECT way according to the rest of the English speaking world :P

Oh I agree! But we're weird that way.
