Random bits of my life:

* Baby-on-the-way is a boy! Due late October/early November. So far, Julian is becoming the best choice for a first name, we're still working on the middle. We're going to have a matched set, a year apart ;)

* How come if you're running low on shampoo, you can stretch the last 5% of the bottle for a week, when the other 95% is gone in two weeks? I'm thinking I need to have 20 bottles, buy a new bottle, and fill each bottle to the 5% line. Then, I'll have enough shampoo for half a year. This may also work with toothpaste, deodorant, and peanut butter. On the other hand, I'm wondering if the constant frustration of shaking, scraping, and jumping up and down with the bottle/jar may outweigh just buying another freaking bottle/jar.

* Due to my current Anthony Bourdain addiction, I did indeed buy Larousse Gastronomique and have gone to bed at night flipping back and forth within a book that weighs twice as much as my notebook computer. I've also read Bourdain's first novel (and first book ever) Bone in the Throat which is a charming tale of a chef caught up in a mob killing in his restaurant. Fans of Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential will recognize quite a bit of his early years working in mob-controlled restaurants (minus murders, I imagine). The book itself reminds me more of Elmore Leonard, rather than Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett, which means it's really fun, rather than a cornerstone of literature.

* I heard Radiohead's Creep today, which reminded me of a flash animation I had seen of it in years gone by, so I dug it up again. It's a classic (and, perhaps, cliche) song for the LJ set. Maybe even the LJ anthem in some respects. But some poor office drone in the UK yearning to break free of office life created this Flash animation and it's beautiful.

Have a good weekend!

I think echo was one of those pregnancy cravings, like exactly the right kind of buffalo wings that one restaurant in the whole city makes.
