It is really interesting living next to Cape Canaveral. They just launched an Atlas V rocket carrying a European TV satellite, and I watched it launch while reading a fishing magazine on my front porch. We're close enough that I could hear and almost feel the rumble of the engines.

Have you seen a night or pre-dawn launch yet? Impressive

Last September, there was a night launch of a GPS satellite that shook the house. I didn't even know there was a launch that night.

I've seen night launches of the shuttle all over the state in the last couple decades, but it's a lot different being this close!

I think that's awesome... and I'd love to see pictures of this phenomenon from your view off of your porch ;)

Heh -- the photographer was in her car on a photoshoot, so I didn't even think to take a shot! I think there's another launch next month, so I'll remember next time :)

I'll bet that can be really cool. I hope there aren't any night time launches.
