Happy Labor Day to all my fellow Americans. If we were on the metric system, we'd celebrate Labor Day on May 1st, like the rest of the planet. But in the American measurement system, the metric May 1st works out to be our first Monday in September, so I guess it's all how you look at things.

Perhaps you will laugh, but I don't understand how the metric system has to do with when we celebrate Labor Day?

A lot of socialist countries celebrate the worker's holiday on May 1st. There are those who believe we (the States) picked a different day, exactly because communists and socialists celebrate on May Day.

Not saying that metric countries are communist or socialist, I was just poking fun at the US picking a completely different day from the commonly accepted international worker's day.

In Australia, Labour Day is in October, and it's Metric here too ;)

Ah, yes, I was going to leave further comment about Australia not being Socialist enough to celebrate in May, but then I hit send before thinking it through... =) I knew what you were up to =D

Nothing is nice! We're moving starting Friday, so we have a week of packing coming up.

Mostly had the entire clan over for dinner. Drank some beer, whipped up some risotto, typical holiday ;)
