(no subject)

In Atlanta, biz for a few days. Every time I come up here, I find it odd that I can mix the nostalgia of my favorite ex-haunts, with the dread of being here, instead of home. I don't get this dread in other places I visit.

In Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land", his hero, the human martian, marveled at Earth cities. Packed with people experiencing all the emotions and stress and general angst of every day life, he wondered that the cities didn't have to be abandoned from absorbing all that life experience.

Yeah, it's a lot like that.

As soon as I read "Atlanta", all I could think about were naked women, making it impossible to assimilate the rest of your post. Sorry. :(

Yeah, forget the 4+ million people, the economic boom town, the gateway to the South, the culture, the assimilation...

Atlanta is all about the strip clubs ;)

Oh, and my mom got mugged there once.

Something's just wrong with thinking of naked women AND my mom. DAMN THE CRIMINALS!

Empathy overload.
You need a protective bubble like Violet from the Incredibles. ;)

I like Violet. I've always had more of a thing for Spider-man, though ;)

I love Heinlein. And I adore you. Haven't seen nearly enough of you recently!

I know, I know. I've been LJ-avoidant lately. Just a phase, I'm guessing.

Hope things are well in the great white north.

Here's hoping it's just a phase! You're too much fun; I'd be sad if it became a permanent condition.

Things up here are great. And warming up! It's 19 right now. AND, it's light until about 6:00 PM. Yay!

It was 77 today in St Pete, though in Atlanta, it was a mere 63 (and at that, the locals considered it a heat wave).

St Pete still has a little light left about 7:30....and I'm still impatiently waiting for the 9PM glow on the horizon. How can a guy get in a decent several hours of fishing when it gets dark only a couple hours after work? I tell ya, we can put a man on the moon, but that whole sun in the sky thing....

so come home already :P

Less than a day, love ;)
