Longevity -- I hear the 17-year cicadas are back in the Eastern States. I remember the last time back in '87 when I was living outside of DC. The noise was unreal. We dont' have them here, but it is definitely love-bug season. My poor car.

Date: 2004-05-19 01:33 pm (UTC)They look almost exactly like fireflies, except they don't glow. When mated, they stick together for several days -- they fly around "attached" (hence the name, I guess). There are tons of them floating around in the air, they don't mind daylight, and they tend to splatter all over the hoods and windshields of cars.
