Materialism 'R Us

Fortune Magazine's "Nine Products You'll Soon Crave"

I already crave #1 -- a stereo player that connects WiFi to your computer and plays your MP3s from across the house.

The other 8...interesting but not crave-worthy to me personally. Maybe I'm only 8/9ths of the way down the Tao.

I know *groan*. Microsoft will be in our toasters soon, broadcasting to a central MS server what our favorite types of bread are.

What do you think of that portable media player -- a weekend of movies stored in one handheld TV?

it seems so...frivolous. i can't really get excited about a handheld TV.

I heart #1 too. That would be a nice thing to have. And not that expensive!

And I agree, none of the rest really grab me. (although I would like to see what the picture looks like on #3 - the widescreen TV!)

I just looked at rokulabs online. Speakers aren't included (I thought they were...) and they can't play protected iTunes downloads (though you can always burn them and rip them back to MP3). Still interesting, but not the knockout product I thought it was.

I don't have any iTunes downloads, so that's ok. I assume it would play any of my mp3's though, wouldn't it??

I should go look at their website...

I'm still doing the iTunes thing. $0.99 ain't bad for a song, but their selection is still a little small.

It's like an external Winamp then, right??

And yeah, I'd need speakers, too. :)

Yeah, exactly! One that would stretch to my living room :)

That would be cool. :)

Probably not to my neighbours below me, though! :)

Maybe I'm only 8/9ths of the way down the Tao.

(*Kriya etches this into her clay tablet for future reference.)

Perhaps I can use this...My lack of technological savy is not that I am maladept with computers. It's because I am following the Tao of Yoga! ;)
