I dig that Atari's remake -- fast tempo, and a GenX bent to a Boomer original.

But...Kris Roe, the lead singer, was three years old the year Black Flag released their big single "TV Party". Kinda takes the fun out of it for me. "Boys of Summer" is a song about nostalgia and feeling one's age, and yet when Henry Rollins was getting the back of his neck tattooed, this kid was just learning to appreciate the artistic accomplishments of Kermit the Frog.

A year or two ago, I saw a car commercial with Iggy Pop's "The Passenger" in the background.

I don't mind the age thing too terribly much...not much I can do about it in any case -- I'm more annoyed that what was alternative then is now shilling for cars and soda to the mainstream today.

If I'm going to indulge in nostalgia, though, I'd rather be indulging with someone whose fashion sense at the time didn't include Huggies. These kids today...

not that you look like don henley, but and in fact you're in color and the video is not... but something captured in the way they keep focusing on his eyes in the rearview mirror (haven't seen the video in ages now) the angle or something and something communicated in the eyes. :) anyway it's a good thing... your pic always seemed to me a much more vibrant version of the original classic. so to see you quoting the song is rather startling ! but cool :)

i dunno about black flag's cover but you got it down ;) so i trust you. ... there's some REM in that pic of yours too, cant quite put my finger on it :) lol

The Ataris remake is "Boys of Summer", but instead of "I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac", the singer sings "I saw a Black Flag sticker on a Cadillac". Which is about right for someone my age, but not his :)
