I was reading this book last night by one of my favorite authors (James Ellroy, Blood on the Moon) and I just couldn't put it down. Insomnia, work stress, and a good novel just kept me turning the pages, reading of cops and serial killers as it rained and rained outside my bedroom window. I finally finished it at 3AM.

I've been sleepy all day, but now it's after midnight and I'm still awake. I gotta watch this -- I can fall into the vampire lifestyle very, very easily.

I'm going to bed. But first, maybe a couple chapters in this new book, along with sipping a shot of whiskey....

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and a bookshelf full of paperbacks read when I should have been asleep hours ago. That's the thing, you don't want to read a bad book but the good ones are hard to put down. I read most of Glen Cook's Black Company books after midnight, same with Terry Pratchett, read those when I should have been sleeping, but "I'll just read until the end of the chapter" turns into, "Crap, it's 2:45!" awfully quickly.

sounds like a little bit of heaven to me.
