So, do any of you use background/foreground colors for your friends list? Some friends-list styles and formats don't use the colors too much, but I use the one where your icons are surrounded by color.

What color am I on your friends list?

I used to match my friends' colors to their icons, but then LJ started allowing people to have multiple icons and that screwed everything up. So now everyone is black on white. :)

I don't use them. I kind of started to in the beginning, but, I couldn't decide if I wanted to go with trying to match the colors somehow to the individual people... or trying to use colors for *groups* of people. Then I realized my Friends List view doesn't really use the colors anyway. :)

Yeah, I don't have a method. Some colors match their initial icon. Some colors match me to who "introduced me" to them. Some colors are just because I added them all about the same time. Some are just a guess, after reading a few of their entries.

You are a light purple, for the last reason -- you felt like a light purple after reading a few of your entries :)

I haven't designated any special color for you, though I have a lot of people listed who do have colors. When I first started my LJ, I was really into making everyone a different color...I picked the colors based on the colors of people's icons (this was back when we could only have 1 userpic). Problem is that after a while, I ran out of "pretty" color combinations, and the number of userpics we could have went up, so I just stopped doing it.

My first friends were B&W because it was hard to change the colors back then. You had to do it on the edit friends page. Then suddenly Brad put the color thing in the add friend dialog, and it got easier to do :)

I went the colorless route....
Too much of a production to figure out who gets what color and whether this persons color is too similar to that persons color..
I tried it, and then said buh bye colors!

Heh, I like the colors in my friends list. Mostly, though, I pick the colors on instinct and stick with it.

I made you a deep, dark red that means "artistic soul" to me. Of the two or three dozen possible LJ colors, it's my favorite.

I go both ways...some friends change icons with every post, so the colors tip me off. Others, I notice their icons immediately.

There were several years where I wore only black, so I have no fear of monochromatic schemes :)

Yeah, it's hard to give everyone their own when there aren't too many available. I wish there was a full color wheel so I could give a lot of nuances.

When all these friend colors started to trickle in my comments to this post last night, I was trying to remember why I made you green. It goes well with your eyes, but I didn't know the color of your eyes yet when I made you this color. Lucky guess maybe? Maybe because your journal was in greentones, or because it matched your Princess Bride icon.

I dunno -- I know you too well now, I can't remember my frame of mind back when I didn't know you, so let's just go with the eyes and call me psychic :)
