Atlanta was never able to handle cold well. A couple buildings over in my complex, water pipes burst at 10AM and completely destroyed six apartments while their owners were at work. Pumps are chugging away, and the parking lots are now skating rinks.

Good thing I'm in the middle of the building -- I catch a lot of parasitic heat from the other apartments so my pipes are well inside. I'm only worried about the folks above me. Hope they know enough to keep their water dribbling tonight. I'd rather not wake up in a rainforest.

When I lived in Pompano Beach, I had heat, but I turned it on once in three years. I hear they got down to freezing last night.

Well, Goldilocks, for me there's usually no difference between "too hot" and "just right". I really don't mind heat at all, but I am a true wimp when it comes to cold. I'm trying to remember college in upstate NY with -15F nights, and I just can't hoestly remember it. I think I may have surpressed the memory. It can't possibly be because it was 15 years ago, of course.
