Jul. 5th, 2005 09:43 pmA couple friends are loaning me their boat. Basically, they pay for parts, I fix the thing, and we both get to use it, which is kind of a nice deal. It's small -- a 19' runabout with an open bow, but it's fun for cruising around the intracoastal, as well as nearshore on calm days. It doesn't need much done, the engine needs a minor tune-up, and the rest is things like getting the lights and horn to work. (Yes,
alexis_wren, I have to install a new bilge pump, too.)
This evening, Christey and I bundled up her kids in lifevests and boated up the intracoastal to McDonalds in Madeira Beach, which has its own dock. Red Tide is hitting this part of the coast pretty hard -- dead fish and some coughing, but it's a fun trip.
Had a great weekend with the family. I did the traditional burgers on the grill, but also did a gourmet touch for an appetizer with two fresh pineapples, sliced and cored, drizzled with soy sauce, and tossed on the grill until lightly caramelized on each side. Yum :)
