Snippets of life
Dec. 10th, 2004 08:34 amFour weeks and four days without a cigarette. Think I have this nicotine thing kicked (for the third time in my life....)
Christey and I went to Disney a couple weekends ago, which, of course, exposed us to Disney Plague(*). I was out baaaad most of last week, as was Christey. I feel a lot better this week.
Dayjob was stressful this week with a major bug I couldn't nail. Finally got it, so I'm feeling the weekend! It will be nice bordering on chilly, though (mid-60s F/high-teens C for a high). The impending winter thing is hitting me a bit. It's not that I'm thinking things are getting cold...it's that I don't want them to get colder than it has generally been lately. Winter, no matter the temperature, is not my favorite season. I want daylight back.
Boat is getting exciting. I have the deck in, and the walls about ready to put in. I have hatches for the deck, waterproof speakers for the walls. I installed the new throttle and it works (after a minor incident in which I accidentally got the clutch and accelerator cables backward. Started the engine in gear and high-throttle, throwing an impressive geyser of water into the air before I could cut the engine. Ooops.) I need to sand down the deck seams a bit, throw on another coat of epoxy to smooth it all out, then it's time for the gelcoat paint. I'm hoping to be out on the water by Christmas. This was one heck of a job, but a lot of fun, and I now know what every single wire, knob, button, cable, and piece of equipment does on this boat.

(*) The origins of most major disease outbreaks in the States, like the flu, can be traced to Disneyworld in Orlando. Travelers come from all over the world, and all over the States, and they mingle in airplanes, and in line and restaurants in the parks. Then everyone goes home.
