Back home -- didn't get in until 2:30 last night, so "sleeping in my own bed" took on more of a flavor of "visited all too briefly with my own bed". I'm a zombie this morning, and a weeks worth of work will fall on me soon.

It is good to be back in Florida, though. The cactus outside my house has been blooming at night lately. Last night/this morning was the first night I caught the entire floral display. Impressive, but I'm assuming the cactus started out in the southwest, and I wonder if there are any of the right kinds of bats around Florida to pollinate it.

I just got a bounce-back from an email I sent.

One I sent two years ago.

And the bounce-back messages are in French.

It does seem to be a real bounce-back. There are no attachments, virusy or no, and it does contain an email I did, in fact, write two years ago -- I remember writing now that I see it.

It seems to be some server somewhere really did get it and throw it up. But, it's spooky to think email I wrote might float around out there, machine to machine, country to country, for years.

It's one of those modern-day equivalents of those stories one occasionally hears on the news: War widow gets mis-directed love-letter 60 years later. Except there was no war, and it wasn't a love-letter, it was a request for a quote for batch printing phone cards.

I am such a zombie today. I'm going to sleep tonight like Vlad Tepes in the daytime.
