May. 27th, 2002 11:44 pmFlorida is fun, I've been fishing and soaking up some sun. I've been catching these small baitfish, then tailhooking them and tossing them out a bit further into the Indian River, hoping to catch some snook or other nice, large fighter. Several times, I got a huge pull, then nothing. I reel in...and there's the tail of a fish neatly cut like a knife from the rest of the body. No snook does that. So, today I do the same, but I double hook the baitfish, head and tail. One big tug again, I reel in, and once again get a neatly chopped tail. Plus, the fish chopped off the top hook. I'm really curious what this thing is out there that cuts fish in half, and cuts a 30-pound test leader in one bite. A small shark, I'm thinking. I used a wire leader after that, and no more bites. Just my luck ;)
I'm sticking around for another day. There are some boats for sale at the local marinas, and I have appointments to see a couple. *crossing fingers*
