Apr. 1st, 2002 11:27 pmBack in ATL, after a short flight with a long holding pattern near the airport. I couldn't figure it out, it was a clear, windless night and air traffic is usually routed better. As I drove home through downtown, the reason became obvious, hovering above Atlanta. Blimp traffic. Collateral damage from the Final Four.
I finished a three-day vacation that was an oddly balanced medley of work (a bit of primary job, and more bits of both side-jobs I have going right now), mixed with blessed relaxation. Programming, engineering, and proposals, mixed with peaceful fishing, cosporting with the pelicans, terns, and dolphin. I may have finished a good chunk of side-job #1, which means a nice check. I caught, as far as I can recall, 15 catfish, 1 redfish, 1 pufferfish, 1 ladyfish, and 1 10-pound stingray. All were of questionable edibility (except for the redfish that was a bit undersize, and the puffer which is unquestionably toxic), so all were returned to frustrate other fishermen.
One nearly sleepless night finishing the aforementioned side-job work. One night of 10+ hours of sleep.
Good weekend for food. Homemade turkey dinner last night for Easter. King crablegs for dinner tonight, before my flight home. An excellent pasta dish Saturday night: Bourbon Street Pasta. Ziti, covered with a creole marinara, with pan-fried shrimp, huge scallops, and spicy alligator sausage. Very, very good.
A good weekend on all counts.
