Mar. 5th, 2002 06:44 pmHaven't posted in a while. Got some serious biz going on, both the day job and my side job, so I've been buried.
Then, when I get a couple days off, I help a friend install a drain system in her backyard to keep it from becoming a shallow lake every rainstorm. Things are going well until I puncture a water pipe with a pickaxe (and before the howls start, the utilities *were* marked -- they didn't mark the pipe, and it was only six inches down, which is against code.) The water spray got up to 10 feet at one point, it was kind of impressive. Got the water shut off at the street, then spent just about a full day trying to find a compression coupling for this piece of crap, 15 year old, one inch grey polybutelene pipe that is obsolete and, actually, illegal. The PVC compression couplings are too big...one inch isn't always one inch. So I finally find someone who carries one, and after much swearing and straining, got the thing patched up. Then, we finished the drain system.
I am sore.
