Oct. 23rd, 2001 08:21 pmForgot to mention yesterday about my two trips through the Atlanta security checkpoint.
They're splitting people off outside the X-ray machines -- they first check your tickets and your ID and won't let anyone into the area without both. Then, you run the X-ray security gauntlet, which I had to run three times due to all the electronic stuff in my carryon luggage. After a half hour or so of this, I get to the gate, sit down to make a call, and realize I left my cellphone in my car.
So I think. I could leave my cell in Atlanta (which isn't gonna happen -- that thing might as well be part of my anatomy). Or, I could go back and get it. I check my watch -- 1.5 hours 'til the plane leaves. But, I'd have to drag my carryon (with all my heavy electronic stuff) back through the airport, into the parking area, and back through the airport again. I check into the airport lockers -- closed due to security. Crap.
I do it, of course. Made it with 40 minutes to spare. I was wondering, though, if I was ringing any bells by getting to the gate, trying to use lockers, then going to my car and coming back again. I probably have an FBI file now. It'll probably go next to my Interpol investigation in my "permanent record".
