Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes(*), emails, and e-cards ;)
I have always had this weird thing about birthdays: I've almost never had a job. During HS and college, I always quit my summer job by now as school was going to start up and I wanted at least a little time around my birthday to veg out. After college, I started immediately into contract programming, which is sort of a month-to-month kinda thing. Like hi-tech office temps; job security is zero. So, in the last 35 years (or at least the last 20 or so), I've had a job on my birthday something like 3 times. Today, my client gave notice -- August 30th is my last day. Close enough.
It's all good, though. The entrepreneur thing is coming along, and I think I may survive a bit this time before I might have to throw in the towel and do the big-bad corporate world thing again. Knowing that these guys were going to let us go has been liberating as I don't have to think too much about them any more.
I do have to go up there next week again, though, to handoff all our projects. So, in the next month: Boston next week for biz (for the last time!), followed immediately by Omaha for a wedding, and then Vegas next month for a trade show that I'm gonna drum up some biz. In between, I may need to duck down to Costa Rica for a biz meeting. And I thought travel was going to relax a bit. Heh.

(*) Except for Blue who was so busy thinking of her own birthday four months ago that she completely forgot about mine. *sniff*

Re: Hey you
And happy late-birthday, too. I remember the oldest-child Leo thing we've both got going on ;)
