What the hell is up with these bee dreams?

Had a dream last night that I needed to have some sort of medical experiment where they put a honeybee on my arm and coaxed it to sting me. Some sort of theraputic effect of the venom or something they were testing. The bee wouldn't sting me, though. They kept poking it, and I kept wincing and bracing myself, thinking it was going to sting me, but it never did.

Then, hours later, I have this dream that I'm walking up to my truck and I'm happy that the trees are all blooming and spring is here and all the stuff I've been babbling about in my journal lately. I get to my truck, parked under one of these blooming trees, and there are bees everywhere. They surround me and seem pissed off, so I'm running away. I had someone nearby help pull me away from there. They never stung me, though. I checked to see if they stung the guy that helped pull me away, cuz I was gonna be really upset if I got the guy stung, but I think he seemed okay, too.

Nick had a period in his young life where he was terrorized by this omnipresent swarm of imaginary bees. Sometimes he makes reference to "the bees" in his room. I have no idea where it comes from. Maybe you just have some unresolved bee issues from your childhood?

And I apologize that I laughed out loud so hard when I read the first paragraph of this post. ;)

Heh, I wasn't terrified, but I was in a hurry...

Last time I got stung was that yellow-jacket that flew down my shirt this fall when I was biking in the N. Georgia mountains. And that was more annoying than anything else.

The psychic dream analyzer says bees are good omens, they're industrious and good workers and natural and all that, but if they sting you in your dreams they're bad luck. I can half-buy that as my workload leans that way, but it's not exactly the most authoritive analysis ;)

I remember the bee-in-the-shirt incident.

Was poking around trying to find the entry about Nick.

It's here

If I were to go all amateur child-psychologist on you, the buzzing of a bee causes a lot of fear in people not because of the severity of the sting, it's the anticipation that bothers people. Perhaps even more than actually getting stung, as that can be a rare event. The buzzing and the hovering and such just set everything up. I'm sure he must have seen a bee in a cartoon or show somewhere, and I wonder if it's just a symbol of anticipation for Nick.

Okay, amateur child psychologist hat off... :)

some people with multiple sclerosis claim that they've had a huge reduction in symptoms after being stung by bees and wasps...

Hmm. I think bee venom is a nerve toxin, so there might be something to that. My ex-wife's mother died of MS. Bad ol' disease.

Bee dreams are LUCKY!

Beehive:

A busy beehive signals many opportunities ahead, and an increase in earning power. An empty beehive foretells sorrow over love affairs and a loss in income. Destroying a beehive also symbolizes loss.

Bees:

Bees are usually a good omen. However, if you get stung by one, expect bad luck to come your way.

I caught that, too. I kept expecting to get stung, but I never was. So, maybe I'm riding the edge of luck right now? :)

Seems to me that something you are worried about is not really going to affect you.
You're nervous that the bee/bees will sting but they never do.
Maybe your brain trying to tell you that whatever you are concerned about isn't really an issue and to quit anticipating the pain?

I've been trying to analyze my own dreams for years and years.

Me too, especially since I have very vivid dreams. That's a good interpretation, I've been thinking along the same lines. Especially with a work angle thrown in with the whole "busy as a bee" thing.

Thanks :)
