Reality Show R Us

So I'm driving in to work this morning, and the morning show jocks are interviewing a Fox casting director who is in town casting for a new Fox reality show. This guy cast the folks on Paradise Hotel, Temptation Island, and the other Fox reality shows. This is what they're looking for: Divorced men, 24-44, no kids (or kids have to be over 18), divorce within 5 years, reasonably photogenic.

The casting guy wouldn't say what the show was about, just that there was a "large cash payoff" to whoever won. The jocks mentioned it was probably difficult finding young recently divorced guys with no kids and the dude said, "Welcome to my hell."

The thing is, they are looking for me (assuming I'm "reasonably photogenic"). Except I wouldn't want to be on a reality show if you held a gun to my head. Still, it made me wonder what it would be like, in one of those wavy-lines Wayne's World kind of fantasies.

This is Fox, though, so they'd probably spring my ex on me at some embarrassing moment.

I know there are a lot of reality show fans out there...do you just like to watch, or would you want to be on one?

My husband was in a reality show for the BBC a few years ago. He said it was an OK experience, and being that it was before reality shows really got started, it wasn't all that trashy. He worked a cruise ship with an up and coming English pop star- he was the head DJ and MC's all the shows there and the BBC taped their lives, the drama of living on a cruise ship, etc.. Anyhow, they're funny to watch now, and he even gets recognized from it sometimes, but he's not so sure he'd do it again- it wasn't fun to see his dirty laundry aired all over England and Australia... He's in the IMDB (www.imdb.com) under Scotty O'Brien (his longtime DJ name).

I'd be wary of a fox show for sure...

That almost sounds like a documentary, which would be kinda cool. It's the "game" aspect of these reality shows that would annoy me.
