Mar. 19th, 2009 02:28 pmI had a fun cooking contest -- come up with a meal with these three ingredients:
* Asparagus
* Lemongrass
* Almonds
Christey and I batted it around a bit, and I made an almond crusted asparagus roll with a lemongrass hollandaise:

Inside is bacon, blue crab, and asparagus. I figured bacon and asparagus go well, plus there's the whole California roll riff (asparagus instead of cuke, blue crab instead of imitation crab leg). The toasted almond bits added crunch and flavor. Hollandaise and asparagus are also a classic, but instead of lemon juice in the hollandaise, I used a white wine infused with lemongrass for a sour-peppery base. Pretty filling, too!
