Apr. 17th, 2007 09:48 pmThere are only two types of music I just can't stand -- Country and Western. So Idol wasn't exactly my favorite episode tonight. However, without spoiling things for West Coasters Idling away the hours until the show airs, I really am impressed by Jordin and Melinda, and the rest...I just don't care. Since Gina got voted off, I'm not inspired enough to vote for anyone, so at this point, I'm just enjoying the show from a voyeuristic entertainment attitude.
In other news, in the last seven days, I've:
* Installed a kitchen sink
* and kitchen faucet
* and garbage disposal
* and reworked said plumbing underneath
* and wiring
* Put coat two of mud on my MIL's drywall. One to go, then handle the window and tiling the bathroom.
* Fixed the final bit on a leaking pipe and faucet in my front lawn (but haven't tossed the dirt back over it)
* Fixed the automatic pool vacuum robot, which will hopefully keep the yellow-algae under control
* Shocked and algaecided said pool
* Am puzzled by a vague cloudiness in said pool, though Ph and chlorine are fine
* Dealt with an annoying issue about the sewer pipe from the house to the city sewer system not actually existing due to a tree that fell during a hurricane two-plus years ago and took out a 4-foot section of sewer pipe so that the last two years in this house dumped raw sewage into the lawn (hence the bright green spot in the center of the lawn) and not actually going to the sewer even though the city was billing for sewer service, but I can't complain as it's illegal to dump raw sewage into the ground (especially due to the high water table living on an environmentally protected waterway and even though human fecal matter fertilizes turtle grass which helps feed manatees and protects juvenile gamefish from predatory species, however the EPA and Florida equivalent figures any human fecal matter into, say, a half acre of intracoastal waterway frontage is a Bad (TM) Thing). Anyway, 54 inches of pipe and everything is now part of the greater Melbourne/Brevard Florida water treatment situation. Any manatee deaths due to the lack of turtle grass fertilization must be taken up by an exploratory committee at the next fiscal meeting. It's fixed now, though, so no big deal.
* My stepson hit a single in Little League (of the Tigers), which pulled in an RBI, which tied the game, preventing a loss to the Braves. Since I've spent almost as much time in Atlanta as Florida, it's interesting how much I rooted for the Tigers.
* My daughter is the epitome of cuteness. I can't due it justice in words. Just trust me. She's too cute to describe in a bullet point.
* The new Babe-on-the-way made his/her appearance on an ultrasound -- he/she is perfect size, perfect development, and hiding his/her gender for another month or so. But, at least things are completely normal :)
* I've caught a huge amount of uninteresting fish in the Indian River. Catfish. Puffer fish. Stingrays. Meanwhile, manatee and dolphin swim by and laugh at me.
* The Northeast US is still bordering on rain/sleet/ice/snow. It was 80sF/27-ishC today. So there.
* The dayjob is pretty good. I hope it keeps up. Check out www.foonz.com and set up a bunch of group phone calls between your LJ buddies. It'll help me buy this place we're putting so much work into ;)
