Aug. 30th, 2006 10:02 amTropical storm Ernesto is turning into a dud. The big mass will hit afternoon/evening, but it's just a bad storm at this point.
I've been trying to count how many named storms I've been in, and I've lost count. I think this is 10. From the big one -- Andrew -- down to this spitball. Not that I'm making light of Ernesto too much. Tornadoes, lightning, etc, it's still a storm. But, we're all battened down, and the local world kind of shuts down in preparation for the worst (which is a good thing)... but almost everyone will just be bored.
Meanwhile, I'm actually working as we have power and Internet access, and I usually work at home anyway. Yesterday, I cleaned out almost everything left out of the old place (just some toys, tools, and leftovers in the garage). Then I installed the hurricane shutters on the old place because the lease is still in our name for the next three days and it would be just typical to have a window destroyed by a freak gust of wind and have the landlord ask why I didn't install the shutters. Then I came back here and shut all the shutters on this place.
Then, I took my shoes off and smiled. One of the advantages of working at home, especially in Florida, is that I rarely wear shoes.
