I keep having these dreams in which I am smoking. And they're not the fantasy "I wish I had a cigarette" kind...I'm smoking and I'm pissed off that I'm smoking because I have to go through all that withdrawal crap again.

Five weeks, four days, and counting. Okay, I'm not counting any more, but my quitmeter on my userinfo page is. I check it every now and then. I love internet gizmos.

So, have you heard about the 1420 calorie burger with 107 grams of fat? What some nutritionists are calling "nutrition pornography"?

Well, Christey and I wanted to try it, and we did today for lunch.

It's two patties of beef (2/3 pounds total pre-cooked, or around 0.3 kilos of beef), a lot of bacon, three slices of cheese, mayo, and a buttered bun. That's it -- no lettuce, no tomato, no onion, no ketchup, no mustard. I had heard of reporters writing stories about it, saying they couldn't finish it. I was a little surprised, because it really didn't look that big. I mean, it was big...just maybe not all that huge. It's about the width of a Whopper, and less than the height of a Big Mac.

We couldn't finish it. We ended up with about 1/5th or 1/6th left over...just a few bites, really. I picked the rest of the bacon off of mine, but that was it. If it was dinner, I could probably have finished it, but it was a bit too much for lunch.

It actually tasted pretty good. Char-broiled, so it had a smokiness to it like it was cooked on a charcoal grill. The bacon was crispier than I like, but it's bacon, which is never a bad thing. The bun was almost damp with the fat and grease coming off the burger -- again, just like a 4th of July charcoal barbecue. Personally, I would have maybe liked some ketchup and pickles on it, but I probably still wouldn't have finished it. As Christey said, the veggie calories would have just gotten in the way of the meat calories.

Overall, though, I don't think I'm going to give up seared, rare tuna for it.
