Oct. 18th, 2004 11:19 amOne of those quick update posts again ;)
It was a great weekend. Saturday, I worked on the boat, took out most of the deck as Christey documented the destruction. Then, a couple friends came over to help and we took out some rotten stringers and bulkheads. Basically, I have a rot-free boat at this point, but it's a skeleton of it's old self.

Then I fell off the boat. The bow deck was covered in sawdust and powdered fiberglass, and as I stepped toward the dock...I don't remember what happened. I think I just slipped. I was suddenly in the water up to my waist hanging on to the side of the dock, pretty sure I had broken my leg. After hauling myself out of the water, I realized it wasn't broken, but I slammed it pretty hard against the side of the dock, right on the upper thigh. It's an interesting palette of color right now, black, blue, red, white, and a tinge of yellow and green. I'll be limping for a while. It doesn't really hurt any more, it's just stiff. I probably just put one hell of a bruise on the muscle.
After that, I called it a day on the boat, and Christey and I went over to my folks for my Dad's famous schnitzel. We played Texas Hold 'em, and I came in mid-way both games (which is annoying, as I should have beat the pants off of everyone, but that shows you what happens when you play against amateurs ;)
Yesterday was Christey's birthday, so I took her to Skyway Jack's for brunch, a restaurant in St Pete that only serves amazing breakfasts. We met up with Larissa, and I thought we should drive out to Anna Maria Island for a couple beers on the water, but I didn't trust my own navigation and got a little off course on the highway (I only missed the exit by 50 miles or so). By the time I got directions there and we made it, we didn't have much time as I had booked us on a dinner-cruise in Tampa, and the reservations were a little firm. If we missed a half-hour boarding window, dinner would have cruised away without us. Since it was a surprise, I couldn't really let on how nervous I was to miss our reservation, so once we got back we made a very quick quick-change from jeans to semi-formal wear and took off to Tampa at a sedate 85mph. Made it to the docks at Channelside with 15 minutes to spare, so it was a very relaxing, very elegant, and very fun cruise for the next three hours. (Except I was limping all over the ship ;)
