Sep. 7th, 2004 12:36 pmBack home. Got back to St Pete last night about 3AM after driving back from Orlando with Christey and my sister. My house is still here, no home damage. Lots of leaves and branches down. My lime tree survived with a couple limes still ripening. My pool is buried in tree branches, stems, leaves, roots, etc. It might as well be a nice grotto pond right now, all it needs is some frogs. My boat had 18 inches of water in it as my bilge pump got knocked offline. I rewired it this morning and it's draining into the canal now. It should be fine -- the water level wasn't high enough to do any engine damage. I saw a boat this morning smaller than mine, partially in the water and broken in half. The rest of the boats around my home seem to have weathered well.
Flags all up and down the beach are torn to pieces. Sand is whipping down the streets. Walking outside is to walk into a sound-bubble of leaf-blowers and chainsaws.
No clue what Ivan is going to do in the Caribbean, other than it won't be a threat before we go to Vegas. By the time we come back...we'll see. It's been the most active year I've seen in a long time.
