My brother is restoring an old Jeep. Today, he puts in the engine, except that he needs an extra hand, so I guess it would be more appropriate to say today "we" put in the engine.

No idea what I'm doing tomorrow. I'm thinking of driving down to Ft Myers or Naples and fishing all day in the mangroves. Once I get all of today's grease off my hands, that is...

Engine made it in, along with the transmission. I'm beat up, skinned in a few areas, cut in others, but nothing major. Just the normal wear and tear.

It's a cool Jeep -- a 1972 CJ5, and once he gets the rest of the peripherals in, like the valves and carb and alternator...it will be the best running piece of junk in Florida. Think of a pile of rust on wheels with a new, purring engine. The bodywork will come, he just wants to get the thing running for now. I can understand that.

Still makes me think about restoring an old sportfish boat hull. I checked out a few on the way home today, just to browse. Nothing grabbed me, but I'm still looking. This Spring, I hope...
