Oct. 24th, 2003 10:24 amA decent sized Coronal Mass Ejection (a wispy, cast-off chunk of the sun) will hit the atmosphere at 3PM Eastern time (7PM Greenwich).
Symptoms may include minor cell phone and long-distance telephone disruptions, internet slowdowns, and some minor navigation errors with things like GPS satellites. Effects might last up to a day.
Or, absolutely nothing at all may happen...
The only really halfway-guaranteed thing is some decent aurora tonight if you're above 40 degrees N or S.
I'm at lattitude 34N, so I think it's going to be a normal day. But I'm backing up my software anyway. Backups are always a good thing.
