I just called my folks to wish them a happy anniversary. In mid-wish, I realized their anniversary is November 5th, not September.... Working too hard?

A couple weeks ago, I read a book by Elmore Leonard, followed by Children of Dune, by Frank Herbert. Literature is interesting. Leonard's books are almost nothing but dialog. He has such a grasp of writing the spoken word that the action of the book follows conversations (internal and external) of the book's characters rather than explaining the plot. The Dune series contrasts this as yang to Leonard's yin. The characters in Dune live in a universe of body-language and subtlety to the point that several paragraphs interpret what was really meant by a phrase of a half-dozen words.
---------
Listening to talk radio during lunch, Ollie North was sitting in for Neal Boortz. I can't stand Ollie North. I think maybe it's because of his criminal Iran/Contra involvement. Similar to my complete lack of patience with anything coming out of the mouth of either Clinton. Strangely enough, I do like listening to G. Gordon Liddy, who, of course, has his own criminal involvement in Watergate. Maybe because Liddy was mostly involved in a little B&E while North was involved in something more akin to treason. Maybe it's just age. Or, maybe it's just attitude; North is do-or-die conservative jingoism while Liddy explains his conservatism patiently, within the backdrop of morality and ethics.
