Aug. 1st, 2003 11:36 amAfter 11 months of self-employment (read: no paycheck), working full time again is oddly satisfying. I'm in a truly frightening state of debt, but I think I can clear it up to merely stunning over the next few months. The Florida thing is on hold for a while until I either get a firm offer, or I extricate myself from enough debt that I can afford to uproot.
Odd happening for the week: I was in a pet store with a friend (to get her poor dog a bone). There was a beautiful red and blue macaw standing on a display near the counter. When the pet store employee left to show something to a customer, I was surprised as the macaw walked gently onto my arm. I hadn't even been looking at him at the time, now suddenly there's a macaw gently stepping, one foot at a time, walking up my arm. The macaw leaned over, delicately took my shirtsleeve in his beak, and proceeded to shred it. *sigh*. I kinda liked that shirt. The macaw laughed -- he actually mimicked a human laugh ("Aaahhh ha ha ha ha ha!") It reminded me of a parrot in Costa Rica that flew out of the rainforest and rode on my shoulder as we rode horses through an eco-park. Birds...
