Mar. 17th, 2003 06:34 pmI'm making homemade marinara sauce, and the apartment is getting that "Italian Grandmother in the Kitchen" smell. Of course, I had to open a bottle of red to make the sauce, a 1996 Bordeaux that I've had for a long time, and that I thought might have gone over. Not vinegar, but good enough for sauce.
I was wrong -- this is a pretty good bottle. Dark ruby, with a hint of raspberry.

Mar. 17th, 2003 10:03 pmBTW -- to anyone wondering about LJ blocking from search engines, here's LJ-Support's reply to my question about blocking the homepage of your journal using the LJ block-spiders feature:
--------------
LiveJournal uses a robots.txt file to block robots and spiders from
indexing journals. As the referenced FAQ explains, there is no way to
prevent your site from being indexed on all search engines, as certain
sites' indexers do not respect the "Block Spiders" setting. Google is one
of these sites.
If you wish to have your journal listings removed from Google, you will
need to contact Google directly. As far as Google is concerned, you
are the webmaster of your own journal, and have the authority to request
your removal. Google is aware of this, due to prolonged discussion
with LiveJournal; and ultimately LiveJournal cannot be responsible for
Google's actions.
You might have more luck if you contact Google at googlebot@google.com
and reference ticket #858075. Please include in this email all the
URLs for your journal that you wish to be removed, so that your journal's
listing removal will be complete.
-------------
To me, it seems like there's a bit of a disconnect between "no way to prevent...from all search engines" which implies some rogue engines, and not being able to prevent indexing from Google, which is the Über-Engine of the Internet. Google is as Google does, I suppose.
But, I did the automatic remove-my-link thing at Google yesterday and my journal is gone now, so at least that seemed to work.
