Mar. 8th, 2003 06:52 pmSo, I have this computer system that is critical to my job. Being the nifty engineer that I am, I have software checking every 5 minutes if the system goes down. If it does, it sends me email, and (for good measure) sends my cellphone a text message if I happen to be away from my email. The key is that "every 5 minutes" thing.
I went hiking today at Anna Ruby Falls, which is on the Georgia/North Carolina border. Out of cellphone range. I get back to Atlanta and I have 90 text messages on my cellphone (and 90 emails in my inbox). The system had been down for a few hours. Grrr. I think I need to tweak my script.
Here are the falls, though -- 150 feet (call it 45 meters):
