Sep. 22nd, 2002 10:14 amLazy Sunday morning. I'm thinking of fruit pancakes with nut sauce, but I can't be lazy today. I'm moving most of my storage space to the garages of various relatives so I don't have to pay the monthly storage rent anymore. This includes "The Piano"
It's my mom's piano, the one she learned on, the one I learned on. One of my prized possessions, through sentiment, not playability (it's out of tune.) It's older than she is, a true antique tall-standup Wurlitzer. The problem with antiques is they made them well. This piano is the heaviest thing in the world. I'm serious -- there are neutron stars that are more airy and buoyant. The harp is five feet of solid (solid) brass. At my old house, I put it in the corner of a room, at the corner of the house, for extra support. When I moved, I noticed the garage floor had cracked underneath it, one floor down. I'd love to keep it here in my apartment, but I really don't think my floor could handle it. So I'm saving it until I get a house again.
