This is the roosterfish I caught in Costa Rica earlier this month. Roosterfish are only found along the Pacific coast, from Baja to Peru. They're fairly plentiful, however, as they taste pretty awful. Most people catch and release. The mate said he thought this one ran about 30 pounds (14 kg). Seems a bit small for a 30 pounder, but it was a dense fish. Roosterfish will go up to 50 pounds (23 kg) give or take.
