Back, sleepless and strung out, walked off the plane into a wave of southeastern humidity and felt my pores open and sigh happily.

Lots to post, but I have to babble my way through work today. I'll be posting tonight in a fog of fatigue poisons, which should put me in just the right frame of mind to remember everything ;)

Follow me into the desert, as thirsty as you are
Crack a smile and cut your mouth, and drown in alcohol

I have met fellow onliners before, but it is always strange meeting someone you know an awful lot about for the first time. This is doubly so for LJers not on my friends list, but ones I had read on and off for a while anyway – it was hard not to ask very personal questions. Questions that would not necessarily be out of place between real friends, but would instead seem to be some sort of cheesy, or perhaps impolite, voyeurism to someone who I knew quite a lot about, yet probably didn’t know that much about me in return. Many LJBashers brought up comparisons to meeting celebrities, and to an extent, this was a fair analogy. If I met Nichole Kidman, would I ask how she was coping with her divorce? Even if I might be somewhat of an actor myself, knew some of the same social group? Virtual-to-reality socialization is a new paradigm for humanity with few firm rules of etiquite. So, I bumbled along.
