(no subject)
Feb. 26th, 2002 06:50 pmAs I was mentioning the other day in a comment with
gringo_in_tj, there has been some really good, hard, rocking music in the last couple years. Rage Against the Machine, Incubus, Linkin' Park, Godsmack, Saliva, Adema, Papa Roach... Music with a hard rock beat, sometimes with some funk or rap. (That's the subject of another post -- the rock/rap fusion of the last couple of years, something that I think has been very successful and very significant for modern music)
Anyway, as much as I love Incubus, and I've loved their first three singles, I am at the point now where I cannot stand "Nice to Know You". The song just bugs the beejeebus out of me. I dunno, time for a new album from these guys. Then, just as I'm musing about this as I'm driving all over Atlanta today, Injected pops into the studio for an interview as they're playing somewhere tonight. I'm bigtime into "Faithless" so I was hoping they'd play some more off the CD so I'd know whether to buy it or not. They did, and I am so not impressed. The title-track "Burn it Black", which the jock on the station said he had been championing forever, sounds so amateurish with the lyrics (in vocal style, not words), which is exactly the opposite of "Faithless" which, IMHO, shows quite a lot of vocal control for a first single.
Bums me out.
