Back home, typing on my own computer, my own keyboard, my own comfy leather chair... my own bed tonight *sigh*
The airport gods have owed me one for some time now, and they smiled on me big-time this trip. I missed the idiot security-breaker in Atlanta by 24 hours (and when I came back tonight, there was a small crowd of well-armed army MPs at that very spot). Today, I got to the airport three hours early. I had to check in at the ticket counter as my return trip had been postponed. They confirmed me on a later flight, but put me standby on a flight leaving twenty minutes from then. I made it to security and at the gate in 15 minutes. I stood in line at the counter at exactly the time when I had made the standby cut -- they called my name and I didn't even wait. I got literally the last seat on the plane, seat 39F, a window seat with a blank wall instead of a window. I landed home at about the time I should have taken off from Boston.
I didn't even stop home, I went straight to my favorite restaurant and had a martini to toast the airport gods, and an excellent sea bass broiled over a black-bean risotto and a raspberry sauce.
Now I'm catching up on LJ, then sweet, sweet slumber. I had no weekend, I've worked 9-10 hours a day for 12 days straight with 2 to go...but a 5-day weekend (the De-Stress Express)in Florida is on the horizon and I am salivating.
