May. 26th, 2001 09:52 amBack in Atlanta, from the lovely seaside village of Newark, New Jersey.
Funny how many posts of mine lately have been returning from somewhere else. My business travel has gone through the roof, but I don't mind it as much as I used to. The work is hard, living out of hotels hundreds or thousands of miles from home is stressful, but the experiences are turning out to be mind expanding.
Work was good, did what we had to do under difficult conditions. Got into Manhattan twice, which was very nice. I hadn't been to The City in a decade, and things, as they usually are, were the same yet different. Times Square was lit up a little more than I remembered -- the technology of bright lights has improved. Both nights had low clouds and fog, giving Manhattan a gray ceiling occasionally lit from within by the bright lights of skyscrapers. The food is still excellent.
Came back last night, head buzzing from travel and fatigue, and fell asleep early. I had strange dreams of my fellow LJers -- very rare for me to dream of y'all, but I think with all the LJ dream talk, something may have leaked in. Or, maybe, I've just been in withdrawal since I hadn't been able to keep up with y'all while I was gone. The three main snippets of dream I remember:
lianna and me, in a restaurant somewhere, discussing relationships. I don't remember what we said, just that it was a 'Hi, how's life treating you?' kind of conversation.
gardengnome buzzing by me in a crowd of people, stopping to say hi, then working the crowd. I think we were at some sort of convention or LJ gathering. It was a fun atmosphere. Everyone was having a good time.
rhondak and me, chatting on the phone about Florida and NYC. Again, I don't remember exactly what the words were, but I remember being surprised that Rhonda had a southern accent. Now that I'm awake, I think that's because I've heard MP3s of her spoken word, which seems fairly neutral in accent.
As far as dreams go, they're pretty bland. No torrid love scenes. I just mention them because there were three LJers in one night.
