Saw the Rosetta Stone in the British Museum. It was very cool. Met up with Siren again after a comedy of events where we were in the same streets and same buildings, but somehow just missed each other. We hung out in London, got rained on a lot, browsed a lot of stores. She's working tonight, and I may catch up on some sleep.
Leaving tomorrow afternoon for Spain again. Lufthansa wouldn't let me fly home from London, even though it's technically a cheaper fare. Regulations -- can't change a ticket if the change involves a different country. So much for the EEC. So, I head back to the Med, one more night in Catalonia, then back to the States. I had a lot of fun in Europe (especially hanging out with the "foxy" Siren *wink*), but I'll be glad to get home.
Very interesting wandering through other cultures, but sometimes surprising as well. Three quick highlights of odd little culture-shocklettes:
*Exit signs are green in Europe (they're red in the states)
*Everyone smokes. Openly. Non-smoking sections are stuffed into the back areas of restaurants, or are non-existent
*Fire extinguishers in Spain are silver.
