Apr. 9th, 2001 03:00 pmIt's spring with a vengence here in Atlanta. 83 degrees and sunny, and everything is coated in pollen. The pollen count today is 3,397 (that's not a typo...Check Atlanta's Pollen Count!) A good chunk of that count is pine, which apparently is too big for human allergies.
There are drifts of yellow pollen everywhere. Every car, truck, and motorcycle is yellow. I saw a yellow dust devil in a parking lot a while ago -- normally dust devils in Atlanta are red because we have this brick-red clay instead of soil.
Walking outside is like walking through clouds of yellow chalk-dust. Eerie, and a little hard on the lungs and eyes.
